After just a few short years in the highly competitive NCAA Division 1 Big West Conference, UC Riverside is starting to make a name for itself.
Here are a few of our Highlander Highlights:
- Big West Tournament Champion. Women's Basketball. Two years in a row, 2006, 2007.
- Big West Conference Champions. 2007: Men's Baseball, Women's Basetball, Men's Golf.
- Big West Conference Champions.
NCAA Tournament Appearances:
- Women's Basketball. 2006, 2007
- Men's Baseball. 2003, 2007
- Women's Soccer. 2005
NCAA Championship Appearance:
- Two Highlanders - Ulices Pina and Brenda Martinez - appeared in the 2007 NCAA Cross Country National
Championship.
Going to the Pros:
- Thirteen Highlanders have been drafted by Major League Baseball (MLB) teams in the past two years. (2006-2007)
- Midfielder Erasmo Solorzano became the first Highlander drafted by Major League Soccer (MLS). He was selected by Chivas USA. (2007)

The UC Riverside Highlanders compete in 17 sports:

Intramural Sports
Into sports? Show off your mad skills (or total lack thereof) through the Intramural Sports program. It's good fun. It's good exercise. It's just plain good. In varying levels of competition UC Riverside students can participate in any of the nine most popular sports:

Highlander Fans have a great time
It's great entertainment! And it costs next to nothing to attend. (In fact, sometimes it costs nothing!) It's Highlander Athletics-- and you're invited. Get your friends together and come out and see a game. Any game. Paint your face. Paint your belly. Paint your roommate's belly while he's sleeping!
If you want to build more school spirit, you can do it. And all you have to do is show up!
